i saw a butterfly
on the window. wings
fluttered
struggled
against the glass.
delicate wings, frail
insect body
so fragile.

when you live for so short
a time, why do you
flit though life
without a care?
are you happy, butterfly?
do flower petals
fulfill you?
do you cry, butterfly,
when it comes time to die?
when
the wings cease to flutter
against the icy glass?

i like very much how you describe the butterfly as happy and careless because many people would like to go through life that way however it is impossible knowing how short and unpredictabl life really is. it might be nice to be a butterfly.
