The Inescapable Lie
This miracle ends--
You advance,
On your way,
Making no sense of the black and white.
How can we be disciplined
On the inescapable lie?
Words…
They’re just another story
In this twisting river of tall tales--
Black flashes
On white banners.
They said that life’s not fair,
And that if you don’t follow them,
Your years
Will go down the wrong path.
I replied, “What’s the wrong path?”
Speechlessness always follows silence.
Words…
Are they more than just a story?
If we make our way
Through the shadows of our nightmares,
The lie that seemed inescapable at first
Will just be a cloud in the distance.
(And that light won’t seem so far away.)
