Why I Never Woke Up

And I remember I couldn't wake up.
Chained and faded
like a ghostly figure in a
march.
You should know that I couldn't wake up.
Dead and withered
like the leaves on a tree in a
cold winter.
Believe me, I couldn't wake up.
Broken bones and clotted blood
beside those memories I had left
hidden.
Please, for once, believe me
when I say that I couldn't wake up.
Believe me 'cause you're the reason
I could never wake up.
