Life Lines
I darken the lines of fear and regret,
So perhaps, just maybe, I will see
More clearly the mistakes I have made
I lighten the lines of friendships
So the laughs and memories of thirteen years
Are free to float about my head
I tie down the lines of love and loss
Bringing those I care about
Ever deeper in my heart
Then finally, I take a breath before
I permanently sever the lines
Which once bound you and me
