across the Feilds
Yellow twilight elongated
A way’s off from the night
Until the moon shall bathe us in blue
But now the light shifts yellow and orange
Across the fields
It makes the plains
Seem a tropical getaway
And the geese become paradise birds
Calling beautiful melodies as they fly
Across the fields
Then the warm quiet
Of my living room
Shifts from happy sandy yellows
To mournful reds with a promise of blue
Across the fields
It is the coolness of the empty sky
Glowing temptingly with phantom light
That makes me think of my responsibilities
And my failed attempts to communicate with you
Of my mind
But silver moons
Of icy brittle
Will tap my gloomy malaise
Giving me a soft white glow
Across the fields
The blue night
Cold and depthless
Cannot cover over the tender glow
That my hopeful thoughts extend
Out to you
Across the fields
Out to you
Across the fields
And out to your
Heart.
