A young man,
Still an infant in the eyes of the world,

But allowed to fight to the death.
His mother cries, hoping to stop him,
But nothing can be done.
He knows what he must do.

It’s time for him to grow up.

A young man,
Terrified of leaving his home,

The only home he’s ever known,
Steps onto a bus and heads off to an unknown world.

He has no idea of the horror that awaits him.

A young man
Who’s never seen the world before
Hopes to stick around long enough to get to know this new place.

He has no idea that this place is every man’s worst nightmare.

A young man
Puts on his uniform,
As he prays to God,
“Please, let me survive,”
He steps onto a truck, not knowing if he will return.

This is the moment when soldiers are made.

A young man
Hears a gunshot.
Without saying a word he is forced to react.

It’s the moment of truth.

Face your enemy.

Don’t be afraid.

This is what you’ve waited for.

A young man
Who swore his life to protect the flag he loves
Now learns exactly what that flag stands for.

They fight for their freedom.

They fight for their loved ones.

They fight for their lives.

A young man
Watches helplessly as others die around him,

People he’s grown to love,
As he struggles to keep himself alive.

A young man
Doesn’t give up.

He won’t be afraid.

He won’t be defeated.

He will not back down.

This is the moment when heroes are made.
