His Eyes
His eyes told lies to the heart that only the mind was foolish enough to try to decode
His mind was a rubber band ball in a way that no one really knew where it started and ended
His imperfections were many and in the end that was the pure beauty and bliss that captured everyone
They looked past his burns and wounds and everything that made him “wrong and different”
He licked his many wounds, covered them in icing and continued to live
His tormentor thought he had prevailed in the slaughter of this child
Yet this child had made his way through life’s brambles and sticky briars
He would come to the path that bore gold and honey
He had made it to the land where his difficulties made him beautiful
And his eyes made him remarkable
