tree bark
fell in love with earnest waters
at dusk, it attempts to burn me down.
soil erosion, sickened to my roots,
tree bark plastered on my fragile trunk.
such hideous,
monet-like beauty.
in fall i fall to my knees.
woodpeckers fester me,
torture me so.
allow me to earn a cent of honesty,
grant me relief from the branches that make up my blood.
my hollows are vacant despite the wilding forest sun.
adolescent water,
take away my glory.
don’t rage with a thunderstorm
when i outgrow my tree bark facade.
oh,
how i wish to be bare with you
how i wish to be bare
