In The Distant Future
In the distant future, I see myself
standing at the bedside of a sick old lady
Helping her get better and doing
Everything I can to make her feel at peace
In the distant future, I travel the world
To nurse those who can’t help themselves
And I make them feel good, grand, and grateful
In the distant future, I am a smart independent young lady
Who works at an industry with a red cross
Who helps those in need
like those who still want to feel,
Like a new blue bird at dawn
In the distant future, they will call me “Nurse!”
And I will respond and see
What they need to help them.
In the distant future, I also have a family
And I care and love them.
We will live in a little white house in California
And any free time I have
Will be spent with my loving family.
