Carnation Pink
You hold my hand,
finger by finger with so much
caution I wonder
if you care.
You paint soft
strokes of carnation pink, grasping me
harder as you tell me to stop
shaking but it’s too late,
the polish has bled into
my cuticle.
You’re angry but
so close to me
that the warmth of your palms makes
its way to my cheeks, & now
I’m blushing
another shade of pink
You’re beautiful.
