A Rotten Eagle
White head with wings
Sharp talons on the branch
Wings spread wide
Wide as the tree
Brown feathers fall to the ground
Perched in a tree; a meadow of flowers
But more importantly
A national bird
Stong as can be
Taking off nice and slow
Finding a new spot
This time someplace new
No trees around
Just a concrete slab
No flowers; just flies
The smell of rot in the air
A carcas in the ditch
A brown, horned creature
Dead
Not a fresh hunt
But a scavenged one
Like a fly it has a feast
