We used to be beautiful, you know;
Just like you fell in love with the sun,
And the whole world fell with you.

There is a softness in the scent of blood oranges,
Peeking from the crook of your neck;
As you hide timidly in lavender fields,
Sinking your toes into rosemary sands.
Eyes fluttering feverishly,
As the sun melts into nectar,
Basking your arteries in a palette of molten orange.
Beams of sunlight going past the waters,
Your laughter infiltrating my eardrums
Like a claxon on busy streets.
Your hair catches the gold and breaks it into a million pieces like my heart

I gaze upon your splendor,
Whispering a prayer to absent gods for this moment to last
