I'm from a white mother 

with beautiful blue eyes, 

long brown pin straight hair.

I’m from a black father 

with wonderful dark brown eyes,

 beautiful short black coarse hair.
I’m from a cross that stands

 on top of a building for all to see.

I’m from a dream

 to open a woman's own otherdotes.

I’m from red glasses

 that have finger pirates,

scratch on the lens.

I and from the soccer ball that hit 

the side of the pole and still went in.

I’m from a bunch of papers

 that say guardianship in bold font 

so light on my hand but yet so heavy on the mind.

I’m from a bunch of meetings at the school

l to get me on an IEP.
