Fading
An old man sat in an orchard and a tear rolled from his eye. A child sat down next to him and asked, “why do you cry?” The old man said, “I’ll die soon, but nobody will care. They may have a funeral but no one will be there.
I can’t remember anyone who’d even shed a tear.”
The child laughed out loud at this.
The old man looked up in shock.
He asked, “Why do you mock me child?”
and the child stopped and thought.
The child said, “don’t cry. ‘Cause we still remember you.” The old man said, “I’m sorry, you have me quite confused.” He said, “Have we met before, you have such a familiar face” The child took the hand of the old sad man and said, “Let’s go grandpa, it's late.”
I am a young teen hoping to pursue a career as an author. I hope to publish several works this year in order to build a solid resume and get my name out into the world.
