bare, but not broken
when green turns
golden and dry,
and eventually descends
to the crunches of the earth,
my branches lay bare.
i am bare,
yet you stand tall next to me,
full of life and vigor,
radiating vibrance
and warmth in the midst of the jarring cold.
because of you, i can live
in the rawest of months.
yes, i am bare,
but i am not naked,
for i have you to lean on when my branches snap.
