Little Prayers
Knees rough from the rocky pavement.
Proof of love.
Scars braised into her bones.
Bruises drowning the redness of a weeping face.
Together, tied with rope, sinking by an anchor at their feet.
The anchor of a relationship.
A broken man she prays for.
Wet hands, sticky with salt and solution, but no resolution comes.
The hopeful is sat on, suffocated by the unwillingness of their other half.
Her god, above the worth of the individuals who give him life.
No care to help a man unable to swim with his love.
Jealousy for the helpless.
Envy for the worthless.
Discrimination against those whose love does not discriminate.
Beating hearts being proven to be stronger alone, for two, creates overwhelming stress in the core.
Her heart is wearing out like her knees on the pavement.
Heartbreak and dead legs are her only reward.
Without him, she feels nothing.
Once again, the unfathomable emotional concept of human affection turns blushes into blood.
Cracks formed in the broken-hearted and hopeless.
Little prayers, she prayed.
