You were never there, not even a trace
No love or comfort, just an empty space
I waited and waited, but you never showed
My heart ached and shattered, it felt like an overload

I needed you to guide me, hold my hand tight
But you were oblivious, never in my sight
I cried and screamed, hoped you'd hear my plea
But you stayed silent, it was just me and me

I grew up slowly, without your embrace
Looking at others, wondering what it must taste
To know someone's there, to feel their care and grace
But I was denied, left with an empty space

One day, I'll be older, and face my own fear
Of ever becoming you, and leave someone mere
Promise to be present, bring joy, laughter, and care
So they'll never go through what I had to bear.
