motel, late at night
February 26, 2023
i ignored the puddles
but calmly plodded through them
with my chic lace-ups
while the lights
flickered outside the motel
like will o’ the wisps dancing
a midnight tango
around fluorescent bulbs
i smiled at the wisps, unafraid
shouldering heavy black duffel
and went in.
