"don't let it define you"

Time

You know we've spent

so much time together,

almost over two years

I realized with my own people

who are present with me

The gift of their quality

Time

doesn't have to be paid

and the quality of something

doesn't have a price

because people are priceless

where we went wrong

I didn't know where you went

when you disappeared

I was drowning in lament

it wasn't pretty being yours

grasping onto my breath

my throat had the thirst to say

I want to be in your arms

so that someone would hold me

I felt like I was lying for death

Time

and time, and time again

this time, I don't know when

"another time" will end

because you haven't given me any

you've lost your quality

the one I loved so

much isn't left

I think there's nothing left over

I don't know but I do know

something doesn't feel right

like why should I care anymore

when our visions of what

I care about you

are different

we don't care

about each other equally

how can I tell you

how much you mean to me

I think you no longer mean anything

The author's comments:

This was inspired by my current realization after being a little confused about my feelings for a while. This is one version that I want to make a better one, that expresses more of me. I liked the idea of quality over time, how friendships or relationships are more worth it and meaningful, through character, quality, and genuineness, rather than the time you've known or spent with this person. I like quality, and I wanted to write about it. Quality is something I'd choose in someone, because no matter how long I've known them, it's important to me to have quality time with thee. I'd rather be choosing a lovable, memorable short film over a redundant movie. Time is precious, and if you don't spend it with someone/something that's worth it, you'll waste what's it would be worth.
