You obviously didn’t, because I was alone

I blew out 18 candles in my silent room

Waiting for a text, a call, anything,

But I got nothing. 

Did you remember when we met?

It was five years ago in a place we both escaped

Together, hand-in-hand we ran from our monsters,

Yet now your ghost is the only thing I have.

Teary eyes met one another and we made promises

You never kept it. 

Did you remember the secrets I shared?

I told you all my stories and you kept them behind a locked door.

I guess you forgot where you put the key

Because now I’m bagging on a door in an abandoned hallway 

Screaming for help, but you only hear the wind

Did you remember anything about me?

You didn’t remember.

You forgot everything I told you.

You have left me in the dark and I let you! 

I let you use me as a bridge,

Holding you and all your weight, but you never checked my foundation

It’s crumbling, I’m crumbling 

And you are mad at me for falling into the water. 

You didn’t remember and it’s my fault.

I didn’t remind you.

I didn’t keep in touch.

I didn’t try to be there.

Never blame yourself for anything! 

You may have forgotten, but here’s your reminder- 

I am finally leaving you.

I am gone in 6 months. 

I will finally stop hoping for more.

I will finally give up on you and your empty promises. 

I will never have to bear your weight again. 

I will finally be free of you. 

We promised forever.

Did you remember forever and never are the same?

Probably not because you forgot everything else. 

I hope, for your sake, you remember one thing though: 

When I walk out those doors, I will not look back. 

You will be forgotten, just as you forgot me.
