This is not my home.
You peel a layer of skin off my back
every time you call my worst nightmare an 'adventure'
I have been stripped away from my childhood home,
all I've ever come to know
yet the first word that comes to your mind is 'adventure.'
An adventure is something lover of change chase
those who crave disorder
and need to fill their lives with a false sense of purpose-
such empty, meaningless purpose.
You who share their wiseness
and 'grand adventures' must surely know
it was under your hand that you left-
it was your own choice to leave
but an adolescent still has no choice this far along, you know.

I moved away from my childhood home to an entire different country. Though I am sure it was meant positively, my family kept calling this an adventure. It was so beyond frustrating, because I hated the country we were moving to, and it made me realize how closed minded they were.
