My adamant slumber let go

My child crept fro

His face dipped in wonder

He asked me,

"Father, Father

What’s a truth?

What’s a lie?

Are these just masks of wrongs and rights?”

I laughed,

“Why I don’t know,

A truth can be a lie

So can a lie a truth

If told hundred times by a fool!”

“But that aint fair!”, he cried

“Fair! Why fair!”, I bellowed

“Mark my words lad fair aint righteous”

“No matter how you claim,

White is white and black is black”

He then said,

“A truth or lie

Both just thoughts

One wrong and one right”

“But my lad”, I shot

“What’s wrong and what’s right?”

A silence cornered, my lad softly asked, “Why, explain!”

I smiled

“Just as my god is your devil

             My right is your wrong

Just as my poison is your nectar

            My wrong is your right

My lad I’m not you

Neither you me

No man is alike

No thought is the same

No truth is permanent

No lie is forever believed

No rights meet

No wrongs similar

My child there is no thing that is familiar and persists”

My child confused cried,

“All so different

All so crooked

But all unanswered

What should I believe my father?"

I whispered,

“You”

The author's comments:

"Belive in You" is my declaration for SELF-BELIEF!!A young boy seeking his father's counsel about truth, lie, wrongs, rights and how these depend on one's own opinion is a proof of why one must always trust himself/herself.

Sadly, not everyone does.....Many of us have more faith in someone else more than ourselves.I strongly claim that my belief in myself WILL lead me to a happy life!!

I hope my small insight can reach many through "Belive in You"!
