There’s a wood bridge in Streetport
Rainy people in umbrellas look over the edge
Black women in rain slickers
Puerto Ricans with golden asters
Coconut-bearing lei-sellers from Honolulu
Bums from Chicago in cigarette necklaces
Romans with fire eyes and sandals
Russian stepdancers in silksilver earrings.
Starbridge—
There’s a bridge in Streetfort
Rainy people in umbrellas throw coins over the edge
Make a wish
While silver fleeing angels
Dart into the dark water
Turning to fish.
