The 4 am Snack
I was dragged out of bed,
at 4 in the morn’.
Oh Lord! Have mercy,
Atleast give me the strength to yawn.
Ruthlessly shoving me into the bathroom,
they handed me a toothbrush.
“His Majesty demands our presence in the buffet hall,
Be down in 5, without any fuss.”
Don’t get me wrong,
there is no buffet and definitely no hall.
Just branding our dining table,
with a sophisticated name to call.
And before you get your hopes high,
let me apologise a step further.
His Majesty is not what you think.
he is a very high headed younger brother.
We are a family of freaks,
living in the middle of a forest,
but the animals dwell inside,
if I am being honest.
Now, now, I babble too often.
let me get back on track.
So where was I, oh yes!
His Majesty had called us for a 4 am snack.
But, when I reached the buffet hall,
there was no one in sight.
Turns out His Majesty had dozed off
before he could take the first bite.
So, I opened the fridge,
fished the cake mom and dad got from Ukraine.
and gave myself a 4 am treat,
Afterall, my sleep’s sacrifice should go in vain.
