Days are twisting

They move fast like trains

They double over and change like Silly-Putty

They mix colors and skies

Days stare over my shoulder like I’m a stranger

They don’t know my name.

Days go fast and far lately

Rocket pace, too fast for smoke

Dizzying the speed of light.

So many nights were cloudy,

I closed my eyes in the back of the car

Didn’t open my eyes to see a single star.

Days are tangled

Days are crying

Like a sparrow on a zipline.

Days are flying

They don’t know my name

They don’t know my name.

Sometimes I find shelter

When I wake up in a summer thunderstorm

Thunder crushing the sky like a spray-paint can

Raindrop patters on lightning

Raindrop murals on shutters and gutters

Black and glittering spider world

When I am protected here

Night lights hold me

Fear unfolds me

I am home here

Night knows my name

Night knows my name.

The author's comments:

I don't know what this is about, I guess. Maybe my heart is saying that its true colors only come out when I am freaking out about a scary summer thunderstorm, late at night, huddled in my bedhead. Last night I woke up to a cool storm with multi-colored raindrops, and that's where I got the idea.

As if an artwork on display
Of gears and hands
And wire-thin bands
That glisten in dim candle play." -Janice T., Clockwork[love that poem, dont know why, im not steampunk]
