Dear Death,

When I entered your presence

I realized I made a bad decision.

I wanted to go back home

I miss my friends, cousins, and especially my parents.

I thought they hated me.

But as I look up I see their tears falling like rain.

I want to go home.

Eat all the good food I miss.

I see my ancestors who were enslaved.

They tell me that I am lucky to not have your family torn apart in front of your eyes.

I want to go home.

My life should have been valued.

I have a long life ahead of me.

I want to go home.

I realize my bad mistakes.

I want to go home.

I want to change.

I want to go home.

I am ready to leave.

I want to go home.

I want to leave.

I want to go home.

If resurrection is real let it happen to me.

Let me see my parents again.

I want to go home.

I want to go home.

I want to go home.

I love you Mom

I love you Dad

I am ready

The inspiration to write the poem came from reading Kobe Bryant's poem "Dear Basketball".
