Nights in the Country
The smell of the canals
The fish and crab
The smell of old memories
Splashing in the pool with my family
Walking down the dusty gravel road
Towards the first place I’ve ever known
Feels like a far away dream
Looking around at the surrounding vibrant oak trees
The night sky twinkles
A million stars all packed together
No other lights but the one God has gifted
Feels too big and bright
Can anyone outshine its light?
Everything is still there
The gazebo, the trailer, my grandmothers chair
The nostalgic remembrance of a time that was precious
That time is in the faraway distance
It belongs to the country’s night
