Trying to do her work, it pings, dings and rings.

It is like a child that demands attention.

She tries to look away from it

But the texts, tweets, and snaps are tempting.

She tries to focus on her work and put it away,

But the phone is staring her in the face,

Waiting to be picked up from the table.

She tries to ignore it, but it is blowing up.

Electronics are like an addictive drug.

Knowing that it is sitting right there,

It is almost impossible to not be engulfed in the electronic world.

The author's comments:

I wrote this poem because my cell phone is often a distraction when I try to do my work and this poem expresses that.
