A beautiful and calm summer morning;

The light breaking through the canopy

Bombarding my senses with the glistening colors of nature;

Long and winding roads weave through

A city of towering trees;

We pass a lake -- rippling in the wind -- clear as crystal

Harboring an exuberant array of life;

The sound of trees swaying in the cool breeze

Emitting a steady hum as the leaves rub against one another

All fighting to gather the life-giving beams of sun

This piece was inspired by morning drives to my summer internships at a regional museum in Harriman State Park, near Lake Kanawauke.
