Ballad of the Ballroom
I’ve picked out the shoes, the clutch, the gown
His tie matches to perfection,
We’ll look the best in town!
Mom ordered the boutonniere, how hard to spell.
It’s the day before homecoming,
School’s over at the bell.
Rah, rah, sis boom bah!
Cheer the players on at the game,
How impressive the dancers have gotten.
They distract from the game, which is really kind of lame.
My shoes are polished, the clutch is filled with lip gloss,
I hope this boy decided to shave,
Hanging on display is the gown,
I’d wear it around town,
But the public wouldn’t behave.
Decoration committee I go,
We’ll need the help of a magic wand.
Transforming the gym into a dance,
We’ve got streamers, how infinity and beyond!
“I’ll pick you up at six,”
Such a cutie calls to say,
Dreams of dancing fill my thoughts,
In my cozy bed I lay.
My hair has been styled, crimped, curled, and pinned.
I’ve painted my nails with elegant french tips,
Careful not to ruin the makeup,
Incase I don’t like the dinner I inhale a few chips and dip.
My shoes are on, the clutch is kind of cliche,
How handsome he looks,
I feel like a princess in this gown today!
Dance until midnight!
Until Cinderella’s curfew calls.
What a Romeo he was tonight,
Eager little me, like Juliet I fall.
Now my shoes are in a pile, the clutch is on the counter.
His picture is on file.
The gowns been partied out!
But the magic leaves me with a smile.
