One by One
One fateful day, in 2001,
Tragedy struck, reality spun
Onlookers gasped, as the giants, they fell.
One by one tower, the world went to hell.
Smoke filled the air, along with the screams
the terrorists tore the world at its seams
Horror and pain, with frightened shouts came,
as the behemoths fell, plane by plane.
Families cried, with friends by their sides
Strangers made furious, by so much loss of life
funerals came, no bodies to bear
One by one lost, in the ceaseless nightmare.
but the nightmare has ceased, in spite of the pain
but the anger it left, has still not been slain
as a nation in grief, we swore we would rise
one by one, we offer our cries.
On that one fateful day, when we’d been surprised,
we turned on our heels, we covered our eyes.
but with the horror of that day now in full sight
One by 400million stand, with America’s might
