South Carolina
You sang me the question,
With a smile across your lips,
Just a gentle, single action,
That rearranged my grips
On reality and all that I
Have ever thought to find...
You asked me just one question,
And I've still not changed my mind.
"Will you come to South Carolina?
I'd be so much better there, If you were too...
Please come with me out to Carolina?
I can smile as long as I still have you..."
My heart it skipped,
And my heart screamed that I'd go...
You chuckled, not letting me know or be sure,
If you were ever joking, I still don't know.
But you took my hand,
And kissed my face,
Danced me around,
And held me in place,
As my world fell apart,
You offered to make,
A place where I,
Could always be safe...
You said, "Will you come to South Carolina?
I'd be so much better there, If you were too...
Please come with me out to Carolina?
I can smile as long as I still have you..."
Here I am still holding to those words,
Not a moment in my mind, when they aren't heard,
I yearn to be, to touch to see,
The man I love much more...
Than the trees, and the south Carolina shore...
Please, can I come to South Carolina...
I'd be so much better, if I were there too...
Please, can I come to Carolina... Dear....
I can't smile, unless, my darling I have you...
Please, South Carolina...
Help me to smile too..
