you are my sunshine
The story of my growing up
Meemaw baby sat me
She held me tight when I cried
And then we played happily
As I grew into a toddler
Our love still very close
She read my favorite nursery Rhymes
The ones I liked the most
We had our favorite song to sing
The magnet on the fridge
The song you are my sunshine
Is ours; not the other kids
But when I grew into a teen
We drifted a little apart
I’m sorry if I hurt you
And if I broke your heart
Meemaw you are my sunshine
You help me when times are grey
One thing that you should know
I will never take your sunshine away
