For Alice
We named it for the borogoves
The mimsy, flimsy borogoves
We named it for the mome raths
‘Twas brillig and the slithy toves
We named it for the jabberwock
With jaws that bite and claws that catch
We named it for the tumtum tree
And the frumious bandersnatch
We named it for the wrong done cards
Who feared the loss of their heads
We named it for the tricky queen
What demanded red roses instead
We named it for the dodo bird
Who manned the caucus race
We named it for the tweedles two
Whose minds got caught in place
We named it for the rabbit
Poor things always running late
And the little baby oysters
Who slipped and took the bait
We named it for the Cheshire cat
Its grin the last to fade
We named it for the vorpal sword
By which that jabberwock was slayed
We named it for the hatter
The maddest of them all
And not to forget the caterpillar
Who grew from tiny to small
We named it for the frabjous day
And the children who cried ‘Callooh! Callay!’
We named it for the jubjub bird
Who had far too much to say
We named it for the old mock turtle
Who had naught but the tales he told
We named it for the dreamy mouse
Who thought sleep worth much more than gold
We named it for the duchess
Who put pepper on her child
We named it for the sister
Was never free and wild
We named it for the marchest hare
Who exclaimed ‘it’s time for tea’
We named it for the golden afternoon
Who proved what bullies flowers could be
We named it for the little girl
Who swam in the ocean of tears
In short we named it for wonderland
Because we’re all mad here
