The First Time I Ever Loved
The first time I ever loved
Scattered, lost, all of the above
All the movies I learned were finger-painted lies
There's never a catastrophy that maintains love till you die
But even though you never saved the life of me
You let me see the person I could be
And I wrote my first poem because you made me fall
Your shy eyes stole my heart, everything and all
But shy myself, I let my golden chances pass me by
Time after time, I never dared try
Even close in our orbit I never spoke out
Say you were my first love, even when I had doubt
I let my golden chances past me race
Make all my dreams a worst case
I let them scream and hiss right in my face
And remind me how my first love knew my feelings too late
