A Dream
I stood at the top of the cliff
The drop below seemed deadly
As I forced myself to not make a tiff
Because this dream was dreadly
One wrong step would create a fall
What lies below yet unknown
The beating inside my chest felt like a brawl
As my impending fear felt ingrown
A creature appears in the distance
As I stand by myself so alone
Its body so big I couldn’t believe its existence
Body so still, it could have turned to stone
I awake in my bed
My head pounding like sticks on a drum
The intensity so dread
I close my eyes and wait for the sun

This piece details a dream that I have had and remember distinctly. It was a scary dream and I tried to portray that emotion within the poem with my word choices.
