Pacing

I'm on the floor and you're walking all over me
as you pace back and forth, unsure, I am breaking
I am pieces of glass under your bare feet
yet you show no sign of pain on your face
I am crunching and cracking under your stride
can't you see me breaking?
can't you see what your pacing does to me?
you have no idea how it feels to be scattered
all over the floor
while trying to convince you we are whole
and to want nothing more
than for you to sweep up the pieces
and if not to just stay and pace a little more
cause even though it hurts, you're still here
if you could have the faith
to pick up the pieces
I could show you a world you'd only dreamed of
if you've ever dreamed at all
maybe you never close your eyes long enough
to give us a fighting chance
or maybe you dream in black and white
and you can't see the colored glass at your feet
but you could never even see me when I was complete
so, maybe I was just never stained for you
stop pacing; make up your silent mind
tell me that you want to stay
and if you don't then go
I can't stand to almost feel you anymore
I'm sick of being scattered across the floor
of wanting so much more
pick me up, or let me go
