She thought
she might
have to marry him if he didn’t break with her because
she didn’t think
she was
strong enough to break with him but when
may choked the air
and
made all the birds scream
and all the trees crinkle under wet and afterbirth
he told her
he might not choose
her after all
and
suddenly
she found
she was strong enough
to break with him.
