Maiden on the Water
In deep waters I seek my escape:
No oars to guide,
Only light by candle and the cross of silver.
I release this chain
Held in pale grip
And abandon my home.
The dark boat slowly parts
The silky surface.
Bleak clouds look down upon me,
Their dolefulness
Depicting my sorrows.
No life resides in the riverbeds.
All Lilies have lost their color
And the cry of Ravens
Is only heard o'er head.
In painful memories I imagine his kind eyes,
His tender touch.
Coldness of coming twilight
Wipe away my humanity
As phantom rain falls in silence
Onto the vacant space
Inside my soul.
I ride on.
My thoughts float away
With the ripples of quiet water.
Their bodies return to shore,
Where my life had forsaken me.
Towards the sunset my boat travels,
A place where all dark secrets are kept.
Let my unrequited love
Give me death.
