The Artist Within
The Artist Within
Fast, swiftly, carelessly
Up, down, side to side
The hand moves coarsely…
Up and down the page, his anger he could not hide
Slow, steady, flowingly
The motions seen complacent
The eyes are closed, warm colors used glowingly
The relaxed body seemed blissful and content
Through the hard strokes, and soft strokes
The mood you can always tell
Where as others hide their hearts under a cloak.
Until one day they randomly fell
Some say an artist is too complex
That they wear their hearts on their sleeve
Some say that an artist looks like they are under a sort of hex
I say they are themselves, and that is what we all should achieve
We go through life afraid to show
The world who we are and wish to be
We are afraid of what others will know
Once we show ourselves we can truly be free
Don’t be afraid of yourself
Don’t change who you are for anyone
Some take their hearts and hide them on a shelf
Not to come out until they are gone
You are meant for something more
You have the ability to bring something unique
Do not hide who you are behind the door
You are your worse critique
Everyone has the ability to be an artist
The strokes of life may be course, hard, and forced to be in form
But through the hard strokes, comes the catalyst
You my friend hold the power to take the world by storm
Up, down, side to side
Fast, swift, hard, free
You let your heart be your guide
You hold the paintbrush to your own destiny.
