There was a contortion there, once, I recall
Where the petals of those flowers fed
Their seeds to the fall

There was a corruption here, once, I remember
Whence the travelers with no face fled
Their homes from the winter

In the swiftness, though, they held full attention
To the flags and couriers they carried

And for them, the insignia was enough

The civilization as I will concede...
With the society of man,
And the carnality of beasts

But to and for whom?

Was this civilization as I did perceive
With the convergence of both ends
And the reciprocation of evil, not to cease

It was to and for them
And as in the writ of their doom

There was a conundrum there, once, I whisper
When the trees stood against, and aflame
Their bark charred crisper

There was a correction here, I exclaim
While the riddles and jesters still came
Their lives, thought untamed

In the coldness, though, we smirked with pretension
For the bounds and volumes we carried

But for we, enlightenment was enough
