Risking Immortal Life

There is ancient meadow
where fairies play unfair
games of hide and seeking bones
they tore from travelers there.
Those who win tattoo their wings
with faces of those who lost
to remember how they looked
after they've paid their cost.
Risking their immortal lives
for some human beads they found—
yet, they forget that human's face
who rots into the ground.
