"It's hard to show who I really am to even my closest friends, but when I write poetry, I reveal who I am to myself, and that's all that matters."- Me

Ever since I’ve become a teenager

I’ve felt that I have had a lot on my plate to wager

Between friends, grades, what-ifs and might’s

Do teenagers today really have any rights?

Like are they really allowed to have any fun?

Or do they have to make sure all of their homework is typed up and done?

And you haven’t heard the worst part yet

Until you see what time their alarm clock is set?

And if you think that alone is lethal to their mental state

Every single one of them is based on a trait

Whether it’s weight, height, bust, or size

They all feel compelled to be after one single prize.

To be accepted amongst each other

No matter what anyone says, be it their father or their mother

I can understand their proclamation

Because I, myself, am a part of the teenage generation.

I was inspired to write this poem when I realized how I was getting older and more mature. I wanted to express to people of an older generation (such as parents) how much pressure we as teens are under today.

This poem is really heartfelt, and expresses emotion very well. This poem is very descripitve and advanced, and expresses average teenagers in the present time. I would recommened this poem to all of my friends.
