Empty

As I stand here I am whole,
But there is emptiness inside my soul.

I can smile through all the pain,
But when I cry my teardrops fall like rain.

Alone as I wander I hear a sound,
But when I look no one’s around.

I try to run but there’s nowhere to hide.
I need to release the soul that lives inside.

I hear a voice inside my head;
It’s full of sorrow, but mostly regret.

I start to whimper as I drop to my knees;
I tell the voice to stop, I am begging please.

I get back up and think of things done right
And the notice drifts off into the lonely night.

As I stand here I am whole,
But there’s still emptiness inside my soul.

For 8th grade English class we had to choose a feeling and write a poem about it. I chose "Empty". I love to write poems about different feelings.
