There are two kinds of people in life: The ones you need to fight for, and the ones you should just let go.

6:05

says the numbers
emblazoned
across my face.

I open my mouth

w i d e

and let out a

SCREAM.

Then I close my eyes

in preparation

for what comes
next.

An angry palm

comes crashing

d

o

w

n

against my back.

Then a moan

that can be heard

even above my own

wailing.

The hand comes down

again,

and

again.

Killing me.

But I mustn’t be quiet

until she’s awake.

With…each…passing…second…

my…voice…gets…louder!

Suddenly-

I’m being hurled

across the room.

I choke

and the noise

coming from my throat
stops.

When I smash against the wall

I hear a sickening
crack.

My surface

has broken open,

exposing my tangled insides.

Her angry, soft hands

are around me in a minute.

She’s gently putting me back together,

working like a surgeon.

I flinch

when she moves around my colorful wires.

It hurts.

It hurts so bad,

I wish I could cry.

I’m an alarm clock.

I was just doing my job.

You didn’t have to hurt me so.
