In movies it never goes as planned.
The silver screen is supposed to

make a worshiper of us all.
We worship...
on our own terms.
No one cares if someone doesn’t:
shoot up
snort the dried blood in their own nose
shiver
c o nv u l se even though
it’s warm
in the arms of their lover.
Don’t worship him:

He climbs into his truck
[does he listen to music?]
and drives to his destination.
He is the light-bringer
to sinners.
Black light. White lines.
He glances into his mirror.
“Objects may be closer than they appear”
closer to what?
Keep driving.

He carries the coke- not just
in his own system-
to
them.

Don’t worship her:

Her blood is clean and yet it burns-
savage- through her veins, tearing out
her nerves, itching beneath the confines
of her flesh.

replaces religion.

[did he black out snort too much or is he dead bruised bleeding did he fight back why...why]
That night
he doesn’t remember her name but
she sees his on a tombstone.
