Through the Night
You lie awake, all through the night,
Holding on to the remaining light.
The window is closed, your mind is free;
Your thoughts sail through an open sea.
Your heart beats the words your lips cannot say,
And your soul only wishes to last another day.
And you lie awake, afraid to shut your eyes,
Desiring to shun away the lonely sighs.
But you remember all that you can do in the day,
And realize that sleep is the only way
To rest until the morning sun
And to live in another day begun.
