The Mystic Bird

That graceful white bird of fantasy
stretches giant wings of light.
Sweeping the murky blackness
away into the night.
Its call sounds out like a siren,
alerting everything nearby
that there is a guardian
protecting ancient birds that fly.
Woe to the thief,
scheming to steal its eggs.
The bird thrashes him mercilessly,
breaking the thief’s two legs.
Yet even the bird of fantasy
must die, as others might.
It stays within its mystic den,
white mist clouding up its sight.
This majestic bird is called…
The swan.
