My Man of Clay
I made a man of clay
With beads for eyes,
And twigs for arms.
I dressed my man of clay
With the clothes that they all wear.
My man of clay cannot think,
But he can be molded by others.
My man of clay was given a head,
But he does not speak.
My man of clay was given eyes
But he does not see.
And as I stood back and looked at my man of clay
I realized that I had seen him before.
As I looked at the people
Walking down the street.
