My Momma’s Tired Hands
She lies on the bed.
A sleep.
Hands gently tucked under her.
Her hands resting from a long days work.
Those beautiful hands rough and scared
From a life that was not easy.
But those hands know peace now that they sleep.
They sleep.
Sleep ‘til tomorrow when they’re up again.
Cuz the world don’t stop for those tired hands.
They cook, they clean, they make ends meet
They ache and thumb
They work and they work
‘Til they days end.
When they tuck themselves under her
And sleep again.
